Anuradhapura today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, historically it was one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura is Sri Lanka's most sacred town and a popular pilgrimage destination because of it’s ancient Buddhist monuments. The city lies 205 km north of capital Colombo. For visitors there is plenty to explore like the well-preserved ruins, palaces, museums, temples, monasteries and lots more.

The Bodhi Tree Temple is another sacred pilgrimage site for Buddhists in Sri Lanka; the Bodhi Tree Temple is believed to be grown from the sapling of the original Bodhi tree under which the Buddha gained enlightenment. The tree and the temple around has been guarded for over 2000 years.
