Bukovina or Bucovina in Romanian is a historical region; the region is split between Romania and Ukraine. The Romanian part lies on the Carpathian foothills tucked in the northeastern corner of Romania. Southern Bucovina is world famous for it’s painted monasteries, there are 48 monasteries in total here out of which 7 have been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, other than the monasteries there’s abundant natural beauty, old medieval churches, the Bucovina History Museum, markets, Schaun Citadel to explore.

The painted monasteries of Southern Bucovina are one of the greatest artistic monuments on the planet. Most of the churches were fortified with strong defensive and surrounding walls. Suceava is the largest town and the gateway to visiting the painted monasteries; the five main painted monasteries near Suceava are Humor, Voronet, Moldovita, Sucevita and Arbore. 7 out of 48 monasteries are declared UNESCO World Heritage sites.
