Lima

Lima is the capital of Peru and its largest city, the city was built on the banks of the River Rimac and Pacific Ocean, the city was founded in 1535 by the Spanish. Today Lima’s Historic Center is declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Center, due to the large number of artistic monuments found here. Lima has got a good climate, rich archaeological heritage, great natural beauty, great white beaches and more, all in all a great destination for travelers.

Museums

Lima has some great museums which are great place to know more about the city and the country, the major ones being Museo de Oro del Peru or Peruvian Gold Museum (upstairs is the Arms Museum) , Museo de la Nacion (National Museum).

Churches & Lima Cathedral

Construction of Lima Cathedral begun on January 18, 1535, which was in modeled on Seville Cathedral in Spain in 1564 by architect Jeronimo de Aliaga. Also there are some great churches in Lima like the Baroque Church of San Francisco, La Merced and the Santo Domingo Church.

Monuments (Historic buildings)

There are many monuments in Lima of historic importance mansion and palaces like the Casa Aliaga, Casa de Pilatos, Palacio de Torre Tagle, Presidential Palace and more.
