Beirut is the capital city of Lebanon, it is also the biggest city in Lebanon, Beirut is the commercial and financial hub of Lebanon. Beirut is also the only cosmopolitan city and the chief port of Beirut.

The temple at Baalbek is about 40 miles northeast of Beirut, the temple was build by the Romans and was dedicate to the Jupiter Heliopolitanus, even today the ruins can give a fair idea how big and majestic the temple was, UNESCO declared Baalbek as a World Heritage Site in 1984.

Beit ed-dine

Beit ed-Dine "House Of Faith", is a small Lebanese town about 50 km southeast of Beirut, The town is famous for its magnificent Beiteddine Palace which hosts the Beiteddine Festival every summer. The palace was built by Emir Bechir II Chehab and it took 30 years to complete the museum.

Jeita Grotto is another fascinating destination and another favorite amongst the travelers, Jeita Grotto are caves and tunnels where the action of water has created cathedral-like vaults beneath the wooded hills of Mount Lebanon. The site is located some 20 kms along the highway north of Beirut.

 

Al-Omari Mosque

Al-Omari Mosque
