Conwy

Conwy is a small walled town on the north coast of Wales, it is declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Conwy was built on the instructions of Edward I between 1283 and 1289, a walk around the town can be quiet pleasant, one can walk the entire length of wall if one wishes to. Though the Conwy castle and the Town Wall are the most important attractions in Conwy, other attractions include St. Mary's Church, Conwy Suspension Bridge, Conwy Butterfly Jungle and more.

The Conwy castle is the most magnificent attraction in Conwy and a great example of medieval architecture, the castle is one of the great fortresses of medieval Europe with eight identical towers. The castle was build between 1283 and 1289 at the mouth of a tidal inlet to guard the river and the town.

 

Town Wall

The town and the castle of Conwy is surrounded by the Town Wall, the town wall is more or less intact till date and makes Conwy one of Europe's finest surviving medieval towns. The circuit of the wall is 3/4 of a mile in length, with 21 towers at regular intervals of about 46m; one can also climb and walk along the top of the north wall.
