The old city and the old city center are probably the best attraction in Damascus, the old city is ssurrounded by walls and is a UNESCO world heritage sit, the place has many old churches like Cathedral of Damascus, Virgin Mary's Cathedral and more and many Islamic structures and mosques like the Sayyidah Zaynab Mosque, Sayyidah Ruqayya Mosque and more.

There are many mosques in Damascus and one of the most important one is the Omayyad Mosque, the mosque is surrounded by high walls and has beautiful Islamic architecture.
