Basseterre is the capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis and is located on the south western coast of Saint Kitts Island, Basseterre is one of the oldest towns in the Eastern Caribbean founded in 1627 by the French, the city has a trouble past and has been hit by earthquakes, floods, riots and hurricanes in the past, still today visitors have a number of attractions in Basseterre to explore like National Museum, Amina Craft Market, Fort Thomas and more.

Independence Square formerly known as Pall Mall Square is the administrative, commercial and social centre of Basseterre today; it was once a site of the slave market, the square was named as Independence Square because of the political independence on September 19th, 1983.

 

St. George's Anglican Church

 

St. George's Anglican Church

St. George's Anglican Church is the first English church to be established on St. Kitts on the site of a former Catholic Church, which was burnt down by the English soldiers, the new Church was to be built to the east of the old and the corner stone was laid on October 22, 1844.
