Managua
Managua is the capital city of Nicaragua also it is the largest city in Nicaragua, the city was founded in 1819 on the southwestern shore of Lake Managua, Managua’s original name was Leal Villa de Santiago de Managua, the city has suffered two devastating earthquakes but today Managua is the economic, political, cultural, commercial and industrial center of Nicaragua.

Old Cathedral of Managua
The old Cathedral of Managua was designed in, and shipped from Belgium in 1920 but was severely damaged due to the 1972 earthquake and hence the construction of the new cathedral of Managua took place, the Old Cathedral of Managua is currently awaiting its renovation.

The New Cathedral
The New Cathedral more commonly referred to as La Nueva Catedral was inaugurated in 1993 it was built to replace the old cathedral, The New Cathedral was designed by the architect Ricardo Legorreta.

National Palace of Culture
The National Palace was built by President Juan Bautista Sacasa in 1935 and was used for official purposes for more than 50 years, it is one of the most beautiful buildings in Managua and one of few building that survived the 1972 earthquake, today the building houses National Archive, the National Library and the National Museum

Ruben Dario National Theater
The Ruben Dario National Theater is Nicaragua's most important theater, lots of shows, concerts and exhibitions take place here, it is one of the most modern theaters in Central America. |

Tiscapa Lagoon
The Tiscapa Lagoon is located inside the Tiscapa Lagoon Natural Reserve, the reserve is located within city limits of the capital and is a popular tourist attraction. It is located just south of the Managua's Historical Center. |

Statue of Sandino
The statue of Nicaragua's national hero and stands at 59 feet tall, the site is closed to the public, the statue is of the Silhouette of General Augusto C. Sandino, the monument is protected by the Nicaraguan military.
