Leon

Leon is the second largest city and one of the oldest cities in Nicaragua the first being Managua, the city is located along the Rio Chiquito (Chiquito River), some 50 miles northwest of Managua, the city is home to a university of Leon and is great for sun and beach activities, also there are volcanoes, the drive from Managua takes less than 90 minutes. Leon has many old, colonial houses, streets, monuments, and churches for visitors.

Museums

There are few museums in Leon like the Museum of Legends and Traditions, Indigenous Sutiaba Museum and few art museums, there is also a museum about Ruben Darío, who lived in Leon during the first 14 years of his life.

Leon Cathedral

Leon Cathedral is also known as The House of Light or the Pulchra Leonina, The Leon Cathedral, dedicated to Santa María de la Regla was declared of Cultural Interest in 1844.
