Christchurch

Christchurch is the second largest urban area in New Zealand, Christchurch is also known as the garden city as it has won many an awards internationally for it’s gardens. Christchurch is the main international gateway for touring the South Island. Christchurch is a graceful city with it’s gardens, architecture, surrounding countryside, culture and heritage, Christchurch is also renowned for it’s events like the Festival of Romance, the International Buskers Festival, winter Arts Festival, and Showtime Canterbury.

Christchurch Cathedral

Christchurch Cathedral is probably the most prominent landmark in Christchurch; the cathedral was completed in 1904. The cathedral spire reaches to 63 meters above Cathedral Square and is also home to many an events year long.

Museums

There are few good museums here in Christchurch namely the Canterbury Museum, Yaldhurst Museum of Transport and Science and the Air Force Museum, also there are great art galleries like the Arts Centre.

International Antarctic Centre

Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Gardens of Christchurch are one of the major attractions in Christchurch, the gardens were founded in 1863, the Gardens sprawl over an area of 30 hectares and is a must visit for all nature lovers.

For wildlife enthusiast there is Southern Encounter Aquarium & Kiwi House and Orana Wildlife Park where visitors can enjoy New Zealand’s wildlife, learn and know more about them.
