Rotterdam

Rotterdam is a city situated in the west of the Netherlands and is the second largest city in the country; the city is situated on the banks of the river Nieuwe Maas. It is important city from an industrial and commercial point of view; also the port of Rotterdam is the largest and one of the busiest in Europe. The name Rotterdam is derived from the name of a dam in the Rotte River. Visitors here can indulge in many activities like sightseeing, shopping, nightlife and more.

Rotterdam has many interesting museums Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Kunsthal, Netherlands Architecture institute, Nederlands Fotomuseum, Maritime Museum, Het Schielandshuis, Museum De Dubbelde Palmboom, Wereldmuseum and Witte de With.

Zoo and Botanical garden

For nature lovers Rotterdam has the Rotterdam Zoo with an Oceanium, which was established in 1857 and the Arboretum Trompenburg which is a seven hectare park which houses a rich collection of trees and shrubs.
