Mandalay

Mandalay is the second largest city, first being Yangon and a former capital of Myanmar, it is located on the right bank of Irrawaddy river, Mandalay is more like a big village which is centered around the Royal Palace, Mandalay is a culturally rich city, Mandalay has a royal past and hence is rich in crafts, dance and music.

Royal Palace

The most famous site in Mandalay is the Royal Palace, actually it is a walled city within Mandalay. It was built in 1861 by King Mindon, the whole city of Mandalay is centered around this Royal Palace.

Buddhist Religious sites

There are many religious site in Mandalay including Maha Myat Muni Paya the second most holiest pilgrimage site in Myanmar, other sites are Shwe Kyi Myin Paya, Sandamuni Paya, Kuthodaw Paya, there are also many monasteries and temples located on the Mandalay Hill.
