Chisinau

Chisinau is the capital city and of Moldova, it is also the largest city and the industrial and commercial centre of Moldova, the city is located on the river Bic in the centre of the country, the name Chisinau is derived from "chisla noua" that means "new spring", also Chisinau is considered to be one of the greenest cities in Europe. Chisinau has its own emblem and flag and for visitors many a monuments, museums and parks.

The Chisinaus Triumphal Arch is also known as Sacred Gate or the Arch of Glory, the Arch was built in 1840 and the height of the Arch is 13 meters.

At the entrance of the Stefan Cel Mare park there is the monument to the famous Moldavian king Stefan Cel Mare, the monument was installed in 1928.

Memorial of military glory

The Memorial of military glory is one of the most important monuments in Chisinua, the monument was built by sculptors A.Mayko and I.Ponyatovskii and architect A.Minaev and the opening took place on May, 9, 1975, the monument is dedicated to the soldiers, who have perished in action for Chisinau deliverance from fascist aggressors during the World War II (1941-45).

The Botanica Park is the most beautiful and the largest in Chisinau, it is situated near the Gates Of The City.

 

Mazarakievskaya Church

 

Churches and Cathedrals

Chisinau has some beautiful churches and cathedrals, Church “Blessed Virgin Birth” is the oldest in the city, long since known as Mazarakievskaya Church.
