Saint-Pierre

Saint-Pierre was founded in 1635 by Pierre Belain d'Esnambuc but was wiped out in 1902 volcanic eruption of volcano Mount Pelée, before that Saint-Pierre was one of the most important places in Martinique. The city was later rebuilt but it never regained its earlier prominence, for visitors there is the Volcanological Museum to learn more about the volcano and ruins, also visitors can indulge in Scuba diving here.
