Antananarivo

Antananarivo is the bustling capital of Madagascar, it is also known by its French name Tananarive or by its colonial shorthand form Tana. Antananarìvo is situated in the center of the island and is the main entry point for Madagascar, the city was founded in1610.

Rova (Queen's palace)

Rova or the Queen's palace was severely fire damaged by fire in the late 1990s, and only the stone shell remains, the palace was built on the highest hill.

The National Museum (Prime Minister's Palace)

The National Museum or the Prime Minister's Palace is near the Rova, it was built in 1892 and today houses historical artifacts.

Tsimbazaza Zoo

To experience the wildlife of Madagascar one can visit The Tsimbazaza Zoo as it has a good collection of local species. There is also an excellent museum with a collection of tribal carvings and a skeleton of the elephant bird.
