Banjul
Banjul is the capital of Gambia and was formerly known as Bathurst, Banjul is a laid back destination and is fast becoming popular as a package holiday destination, Banjul is situated on an island at the mouth of the River Gambia called St. Mary's Island. For visitors there are attractions such as MacCarthy Square, The African Heritage Centre, Albert Market.

National Museum of Gambia
The Museum is a good place to learn about Gambians arts, religion and politics, the museum is located around half way down Independence Drive, the museum has a decent collection of artifacts.

Arch at the end of Independence Drive
Another attraction on the Independence Drive is the Arch at the end of Independence Drive, the arch is 35m high and is called July 22 Arch, the Arch was built to commemorate the July 22 1994 bloodless coup.
