Kourou

Kourou is a town in French Guiana, it’s an overseas territory of France located in South America. Kourou is the location of the Guiana Space Centre, France and the European Union's main spaceport. Kourou is located in the northwest of the capital Cayenne at the mouth of the Kourou river on the Atlantic coast, Kourou has four hills and three lakes namely Carapa, Pariacabo, Cafe and Lombard and Lake Bois Diable, Lake Marie-Claire and Lake Bois Chaudat around it, it also has dense rainforests.

There are great forests and botanic footpath around the Kourou River, short trips can be taken up the river and the surrounding creeks.

Kourou Space Centre (Centre Spatial Guyanais)

Kourou Space Centre is European Union's main spaceport, more than 500 launches have left from this vital space center, begun in the 1960s. Guided tours of the facility and its six launch sites are available.
