The city of Djibouti is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Djibouti, the city was founded as a seaport in 1888, Djibouti became the capital of French Somaliland in 1891, replacing Tadjourah, Djibouti City has a very strong French influence on it.

Lakes
There are some beautiful lakes in Djibouti City like the Lake Abbe and Lake Assal, Lake Abbe or Lake Abhe Bad is a salt lake lying on the Ethiopia-Djibouti border and Lake Asal (Lake Assal) is a crater lake in central Djibouti, located at the southern border of Tadjoura Region.

Ardoukoba Volcano
The last eruption of Ardoukoba volcano was in 1978 since then there have been no activity, the volcano contains a broad area of youthful fissure vents between Lake Asal and the Ghoubbat al Kharab gulf.

Tadjoura is the oldest town in Djibouti, and is the capital of the Tadjourah Region. Tadjoura is known for its whitewashed buildings and nearby beaches.
