Phnom Penh is the largest city and the capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh was once known as the ‘Pearl of Asia’ and still it is economical, political and cultural hub of Cambodia. The city is located at the confluence of the Mekong and the Tonle Sap rivers and along with Siem Reap is the most visited destinations in Cambodia by tourists.

Sisowath Quay or the Riverside is extremely popular with tourists; it is a boulevard running along the banks of the Mekong and Tonle Sap and has many a cafes, shops restaurants and bars.

The Royal Palace is where the Kings of Cambodia have lived since 1866 when it was build; it is a complex of buildings with some really good ones like the Silver Pagoda, Khemarin Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha and more.

The National Museum

The National Museum lies opposite to the Royal Palace; the place contains some interesting artifacts like the statue of King Jayavarman VII and exhibits dating back from Cambodia's golden age of Angkor.

Wat Phnom

Wat Phnom is a historic temple which is quiet popular amongst the locals as the place has plenty and pleasant green and open space, the place is on a hill at the center of a small park near Sisowath Quay.

Independence and Liberation memorials
