Rio de Janeiro meaning ‘River of January’ is the second largest city of Brazil, it is also the former capital of Brazil, the city is world famous for it’s breathtaking landscape, it’s beaches and it’s annual carnival. Though Rio is one of the most wonderful cities on the planet it still has it’s share of problems like violence and crime rates but they are concentrated mostly in the slum areas better known as favelas. The city is served by the Galeão - Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport also the city has two world's largest forests inside the city namely Parque Estadual da Pedra Branca, or White Stone State Park and Floresta da Tijuca or ‘Tijuca Forest’.

Christ the Redeemer or the Cristo is the giant statue of Jesus atop Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro, it has been named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World recently; the statue stands 38 meters (120 ft) tall previously one had to climb hundreds of steps, however today it is possible to use an elevator and escalator.

Rio de Janeiro has some of the best beaches on the planet also it has a great beach culture, no it doesn’t have any topless beaches some of the best ones being Ramos, Flamengo, Leme, Copacabana, Leblon and Grumari.
