Belize City is the largest city and a former capital of Belize, the city is located on the east coast and is a fascinating and bustling place to be in, the capital was shifted to Belmopan in 1970 due to destruction caused by Hurricane Hattie but today Belize City is the travel hub, the nation's principal port and its financial and industrial hub of Belize. For visitors there are plenty of historic and cultural attractions like Caracol and Xunantunich.
