These are not the only attractions in Kenya, there are also many attractive beaches located on the shores of Kenya. You can have fun or just relax here or indulge in adventure sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming and sailing. Kenya is a diverse country having influences from various African countries. There are more than 40 languages, diverse religious groups and as many as eleven different ethnic groups in Kenya and yet all of these have a fairly harmonious existence. The national slogan of Kenya is ‘Harambee’ which in general term means let’s pull together.
Kenya is not a large country and its area of 224,960 square miles is a little bit smaller than Texas. Having Nairobi as its Capital Kenya starts from a low coastal plain on the Indian Ocean and goes on to have a series of mountain ridges and plateaus which stand above 9,000 feet in the heart of the country. The Rift Valley divides the country above Nairobi with a broad arid plain in the north, however in the south mountain plains cover the landscape before coming down to the shores of Lake Victoria in the west.
As compared to other countries in sub Sahara region the infrastructure of Kenya is advanced and standard of living is higher. Prior to its independence on December 12 1963 Kenya was ruled by England, in those time Kenyans were not allowed to take part in any government activities. The first government after independence was formed by the Kenya People’s Union and it ruled till 2002. From October 2002, the National Rainbow Coalition has come to power. Though having many economic problems Kenya is still a country which is a must for an avid traveler.
