Hiking can be enjoyed only in clear good weather so know your weather beforehand, find out all about the weather forecast and plan accordingly. In flat terrains summers can be very hot so it is not very comfortable hiking on flat terrains during summers. Also medical first aid is a must for hikers and you should carry a small first aid kit. It should have all the necessary equipments that are needed during hiking like a thermometer, band-aids, insect repellant and emergency medicines for cold and flu are must in the back pack. The first aid kit should be kept in the top so that it can be easily taken out.
The back-pack of a hiker is a also very important, it has to be compact as well as carry all the necessary things. A beginner will carry unnecessary baggage which can be a hurdle in a smooth hiking trip. While packing the back pack keep the heaviest item at the bottom of the back pack. Being systematic never hurts and it is true more so for hikers. Small munchies along with water should be kept at the top. The back pack should be held tightly to the shoulders or else one's shoulders and back may start aching after some time.
For any beginner hiking in pairs or groups is advisable, it is easier to get help or not to lose way while hiking in a pair or in a group. Even if you are alone it would be best to inform someone of your whereabouts and the approximate time of your return. One cannot deny that there is nothing like the soft sound of breeze, the rushing stream in the mountains, sounds of chirping birds or majestic views of sunrise or sunset over the mountains. All these can be enjoyed with the right knowledge, the excellent hiker will be able to avoid mosquitoes, insects or even hidden rocks, so happy hiking.
