South Africa has many renowned national parks and also private reserves, all offering excellent wildlife and bird watching opportunities. The most fascinating places in South Africa for game experiences are the lowveld of the Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West or KwaZulu-Natal provinces and more, here elephants lumber gracefully through the bush, and lions rest in the heat of the day after a long night’s hunting. The experience of visiting the Gauteng province which is short drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria is breathtaking, here you can you can spot lion, elephant, buffalo and hundreds more species in their natural environments.
The Western Cape in South Africa has different climate and vegetation and hence the wild life found here is different, one won’t find elephants or lions here; however one can see springbok, Cape mountain zebra, bontebok, black wildebeest and many others species. In the Eastern Cape Province lies the Addo Elephant National Park, the park is continually being enlarged and will extend over a huge range of biomes, from marine to mountain shortly. In the Northern Cape region one will find wonderful game destinations. One of them is the Augrabies Falls National Park, which has some wonderful scenes and also some excellent animal and bird life. The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is famous for its huge, black-maned Kalahari lions and for the elegant gemsbok, or oryx, which is found there in abundance. Probably the most famous game viewing location in South Africa is the Kruger National Park; it is the most famous wild life sanctuary having the South Africa’s Big 5. The incredible drive to the Kruger National Park will bring you across bucks, zebras, giraffes, leopards, lions, springboks, cheetahs and many others species. The park has been very well developed to accommodate many different preferences. There is the choice of going on a guided tour into the bushveld and even camp there overnight and experience the bushveld at night with all its fascinating sounds and sights.
